Lucian Howard Cocke Correspondence, 1901

Two letters between Cocke and Woodrow Wilson concerning the presidency of Washington and Lee University, after the death of William Lyne Wilson. As a member of the Board of Trustees, Cocke offered the job to Wilson, then a professor at Princeton University. Wilson declined the offer.

The paper details the history and provenance of the "Pickin' Parlor," formerly the Lexington Meat Market and later the Wilson-Walker house, both in ownership and in astylistic exterior and interior architectural features.
